This medium is applied thickly, as if ‘painting’, rather than drawing. Oil pastels create a result that looks similar to oil paint. Chalk pastels are also applied heavily. Drawn marks re-establish and enhance the subject matter. A watercolour wash is sometimes added to enhance the form/image.
